The importance of accreditation and associations

All companies involved in the production of construction materials strive to achieve high standards and provide products which do exactly what they say they will. However, this raises the question: how can a buyer be sure they are getting what they pay for?

The main way that companies can provide that level of reassurance and confidence is to gain accreditations from certified bodies who carry out verified testing. There is a huge range of tests can be carried out to prove that every aspect of a product performs as intended.

These testing companies are proven across the whole industry for their rigour and reliability, meaning that products which pass these tests can provide the same level of assurance, from cradle to grave.

For example, the British Board of Agrément (BBA) provides extensive testing and authoritative certification for products which is recognised throughout the construction industry. The BBA's 50-year legacy of reliability, innovation and product certification made it the perfect partner for Specwall. Since earning BBA certification for our solid, lightweight panel, we have been proud to show off that achievement to our partners and customers.

Specwall is also a proud member of the Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) which was created to draw the industry supply chain together to improve safety and quality at the same time as minimising risk, enhancing productivity and embracing risk.

Vetted members of FIS include fit-out and specialist contractors, manufacturers and distributors involved in the supply and installation of ceilings, steel framing systems, operable walls, partitions, plastering, drylining and joinery products in every type of building.

Other accreditation achieved by Specwall includes certification from UKAS, the UK’s national accreditation body which is appointed by the government to test products for fire safety, acoustic performance and overall strength. All Specwall panels come with inherent fire, acoustic and insulation values so you know exactly what you are getting when you choose our product.

Finally, we are proud to be associated with many prestigious organisations including NBS, RIBA and UK Research and Innovation. We have also recently completed the Environmental Product Declaration for our A2 panel with the BRE to prove that it meets sustainability standards not just from cradle to gate, but onwards throughout the entire lifecycle of a building and beyond.
