Specwall in 2023 – A year of success and growth

2023 has been the busiest year yet for Specwall. The whole team has worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months and we are proud of everything we have achieved.

Our goal is to transform construction in the UK by providing an advanced wall system which is cost-effective, sustainable, low waste and efficient. Our product has inherent insulation and acoustic values as well as exceeding fire safety regulations significantly.

Read on to find out how we have spent 2023 improving the product even further, and learn more about how our product can help you…

A1 panel launched to market, exceeds fire safety guidelines

Fire safety is at the top of the priority list for everyone involved in the design and development of buildings. The highest A1 standard of fire safety is set to become the requirement in the future but there is not a huge range of products which meet it at present.

This year, we launched our A1-rated panel to the market to provide a walling solution which outperformed traditional plasterboard, blockwork and SFS systems by completing a 3hr 30 minute fire test this year.

Key technical information about our A1 panel is as follows:

  • No flammable material in the panel
  • Cannot contribute to a fire at any stage
  • Same weight and strength as standard A2-rated panel
  • 100m depth, single-layer system
  • Simple, integrated, stand-alone
  • Price competitive with SFS or blockwork alternatives

A2 panel achieves EPD certification

An Environmental Product Declaration was completed this year for our A2-rated wall panel in both 75mm and 100mm thicknesses.

Choosing environmentally friendly products has never been more important. Our EPD allows you to specify Specwall with the confidence that it will increase the sustainability of your project now and far into the future.

Our A2 panel which has received its EPD performs extremely strongly in the following ways:

  • Panel can be removed and reused in a different location at the end of the building lifetime (30 years assumed as standard).
  • 50% of panels reused without any changes by cutting down the middle, re-forming grooves and reinstalling.
  • 38% of panels recycled and used as aggregate.
  • 10% returned to Specwall for use as samples.
  • Only 2% sent to landfill.

Choosing Specwall can positively affect your BREEAM score and also complies with the EN 15804+A2 amendment which requires products to cover modules A1-A3, C1-C4 and D as part of the minimum scope.

CPD launch

Our CPD – “How advanced walling systems can produce sustainable outcomes in the built environment” – was launched this year and has been delivered to approximately 50 CPDs to more than 550 people at businesses including architects, surveyors, main contractors and more.

It explains how using advanced, factory-produced walling systems can make your development more sustainable, environmentally friendly and efficient.

It also shows how they can be implemented on your development and installed to maximise outcomes.

ISO 9001 and 14001 certification

In 2023 we passed our second audits for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification and received the official confirmation.

These certifications show that our quality and environmental management systems are tested and guaranteed to be of the highest quality – meaning that you can rest assured that you are buying a reliable, trustworthy product when you choose Specwall.

Getting the right accreditations and associations is important to us at Specwall, and receiving our two ISO certifications was a major milestone for the company.
